Machines capable of automating the laying of tarmac have been around for the best part of a century. And with modern tracked pavers a new level of efficiency has been unlocked. You can find used tracked paving equipment for sale if you would prefer to reduce the costs of procuring such a machine while still getting all of the benefits.
Second-hand tracked pavers will need to be thoroughly checked over to provide assurances as to their operational status. The specifications and capabilities should also be scrutinised and compared with your needs so that you avoid investing in a machine which is not fit for your purposes.Overview
Tracked pavers cannot operate independently of other machinery, with a dumper or tipper required to load it while a number of operators are on hand to control the machine and ensure that it is doing its job correctly. The laying of material is achieved by passing it through a screed which allows it to be spread evenly on the surface below, leaving a trail of fresh tarmac behind the equipment. And tracked or wheeled pavers can pull themselves forward at a steady rate, allowing roads to be laid very efficiently. Depending on the size of the vehicle, it may also be used to pave areas such as car parks, bridges and other sites where a large tarmac surface is required.
In terms of choosing the right type of tracked paver, you should consider both the capacity of the hopper and the working width of the machine. The best models will offer variable working widths, meaning they can lay down tarmac in bands that are as wide or narrow as the situation dictates. There will always be an upper limit in terms of operating width, with relatively modern models allowing for strips of between two and a half and five metres wide to be created in a single pass.
While a paver may be able to do some of the compaction work itself, many will require the subsequent use of a roller to achieve satisfactory levels and complete the task in full. Thankfully, the engineering improvements made over the years mean that much of the rest of the process is automated, ensuring that the resultant surface is flat and level as it leaves the paver, even if it is operating on a slope or over an irregular surface.
Buying a tracked paver means accepting the need to thoroughly examine second-hand units to check that they are in a good working condition and not showing signs of neglect, improper use or general wear and tear that will need to be addressed. These expensive and complicated pieces of machinery are necessarily large and heavy and need to be operated in the correct way. So you need to also think about things such as transport, storage and the training that may be required for the particular model that you have in mind. All the researching and inspection should pay off with a used tracked paver that helps your business to flourish.
