Case tracked excavators - also called crawler excavators by Case - are the go-to machines for major digging and lifting jobs. They have an intelligent hydraulic system with five energy-efficiency features which help keep running costs to an absolute minimum while boosting productivity. The operator cab is both spacious and comfortable and has excellent 360-degree visibility. It also has reduced noise and an in-cab monitor covering all the major functions that is exceptionally easy to use.
These Case C-Series tracked excavators have efficient and ultra-clean Tier 4 (interim) diesel power plants which feature a cooled exhaust-gas recirculation system (CEGR) along with a diesel particulate filter. This means that the engine is able to meet tough new emissions standards without using any added fluids in the diesel exhaust. There is also a diesel particulate diffuser (DPD) which automatically regenerates to prevent any loss of power. The low engine rpm, meanwhile, improves control of the hydraulic pump, while those five energy-saving systems increase fuel efficiency by 15%. The Case C-Series crawler excavators also have a green economy indicator in the cab to tell the operator which operating mode is best for the job in hand. It also provides information on fuel consumption in real time.

The CX family of Case C-Series crawler excavators includes the CX130C, CX160C and CX180C models. These boast a range of functions to improve both performance and economy. These systems include a boom economy control system to maximise efficiency when lowering and swinging the boom. The machines also have a smart automatic economy control system which stops power demand when the servos are in a neutral position and the joysticks are not demanding any power from the vehicle. There is a swing relief control set-up which manages the power distribution of the hydraulic system while involved in slewing operations, providing the optimal pressure and flow. The spool stroke control system, meanwhile, automatically adjusts the pressure during demanding digging and levelling work to save fuel and make the machine easier to control.
All of these Case C-Series crawler excavators also have automatic idle and shutdown functions which when activated lower the engine rpm no matter what position the throttle is in. This system cuts in after the control levers have been idle for five seconds. The system can also be activated manually and the idle shutdown process will cut the engine when there has been no system activity for three minutes, which greatly cuts down on needless fuel use.
The Case C-Series crawler excavators also benefit from the company's innovative intelligent hydraulic system, which is on hand to boost performance and productivity. Cycle times have been slashed while lifting capacity is increased, and the machines' operating weights have been increased a little to handle all those extra loading and digging forces. This helps to ensure stability and consistent productivity in even the harshest environments. A boom and bucket down regeneration system collects energy from descending implements and reuses it, lowering demand on the engine. All of the systems of the new Case C-Series crawler excavators are built on the B-Series controls, so operators can get up to speed in the shortest possible time.
